As soon as 5:30pm rolls around, you can expect every student in Isla Vista to walk towards Sands Beach in preparation for the best time of day: SUNSET. Isla Vista is known to have some of the best sunsets, worth leaving the library early for! A blend of yellow, orange, pink and purple is spread across the sky and reflects on to the gentle evening waves creating a magical viewing experience nearly every single night.

The sunset pilgrimage is an iconic feature of Isla Vista and I would reccomend for students to participate at least twice a week. The bluffs that stretch from Devereaux Beach to Sands Beach are covered in ice plant and sunflowers and have endless spots for sunset watching. Whether you choose to go by foot, bike, or skate board, make sure to bring a camera and take this time to rewind before the night ahead of you.

Here are some different ideas of what to do during sunset hours:
Set up a blanket and hangout with friends
Set up hammock in the eucalyptus trees on the path towards Sands
Go sea shell hunting
Bring a guitar and watch a crowd form
Meditate
Go on a run/walk
